BEHIND TRUESTONE
Entrepreneurial investors in frontier markets

Truestone is a frontier market investor proving that sustainable, profitable business can thrive anywhere — even in the world’s most challenging environments.
We don’t simply invest; we build from the ground up, identifying talented executives and managers with significant local knowledge that can unlock long-term value and create meaningful impact.
Since 2010, we have pioneered a venture-building model that starts from the bottom-up — combining local insight, patient capital and hands-on support to turn ideas into investable, scalable companies. Our portfolio in Sierra Leone now employs over 750 people and demonstrates what is possible when international expertise and focus is combined with highly relational local teams.
By blending international best practice with on-the-ground knowledge and networks, we deliver not simply scalable businesses but the structures and timescales required to build resilient companies.
A venture-building model that grows companies from zero to scale.
A hands-on strategy from vision through to implementation.
A highly-relational approach where portfolio companies work to achieve resilience.
A deep belief in local leadership as the driver of lasting impact.
LONDON TO FREETOWN, SIERRA LEONE
Faith: the assurance of things hoped for … and the evidence of things not seen, the conviction of their reality - faith comprehends as fact what cannot be experienced by the physical senses.

Sierra Leone is often sadly remembered for its brutal conflict of the 1990s. In 2005, Truestone’s founder, Paul, first visited Sierra Leone on a philanthropic mission, exploring several post-conflict countries across Sub-Saharan Africa. During this time, he recognized an opportunity, before the term “impact investing” was widely used, that Sierra Leone offered investment avenues capable of creating sustained transformational impact beyond what philanthropy alone could achieve. An initial US$3,000 investment, provided in faith, laid a foundation on which grew A Call to Business (ACTB) — now the largest microfinance institution in Sierra Leone.
Time spent in Sierra Leone and insights gained from ACTB informed the venture building approach which we use today: Truestone works together with talented local professionals to seed and scale operating companies that meet essential demands. Through its London-based wealth management arm, Truestone’s private clients faithfully committed capital over many years to help establish and grow these businesses.
With people. With purpose. With patience.
Today, the portfolio spans financial inclusion, poultry and feed, a national chicken restaurant chain, brickmaking and construction materials, media, and leadership development. Businesses designed to be scalable, profitable, and impactful in one of the most challenging investment environments.
